Why we exist

Somewhere between the spreadsheet and the modern data platform, businesses started mistaking activity for insight. Dashboards multiplied; decisions didn't. Data became plentiful; information stayed scarce.

We set out to do it differently. Small engagements. Named people. Code you can read, systems you can trust, and numbers somebody is willing to sign their name to.

Give us the messy, half-documented, three-systems-that-don't-talk problem. That's where the work is — and that's where the value lives.

The founder

Christiaan W. Vermaak is an information management practitioner with a long career spent at the seams between business and technology. The practice reflects his bias: clarity over cleverness, written artefacts over hand-waving, and a quiet preference for the work that outlives the engagement.

How we're different

• Principal-led. The person who scopes the work is the person doing it.
• Tool-agnostic. We've shipped in enough stacks to know which one fits yours — and to tell you honestly when yours is already the right one.
• Hand-over-first. We write runbooks during the build, not at the end. If we vanished tomorrow, your team should still be able to run the thing.
• Commercially grown-up. Fixed scopes where they make sense, time-and-materials where they don't. No rhetoric either way.

Old-fashioned values

We answer our email. We show up on time. We say what we will do, and we do it. We admit when we are wrong. None of this is remarkable — but the frequency with which it is remarkable, in our industry, is half the reason this practice exists.

Cutting-edge technology

At the same time: modern data warehouses, real-time streaming, vector databases, LLM-assisted analytics, observability tooling, infrastructure-as-code. We use the new things where the new things earn their keep — and we're honest about which ones don't.
